Recorded in a hundred year old house in a part of the city that was once a logging camp. There were three houses side by side, nearly identical, that housed the lumber workers. Ours was the only black house with a red door, however. It even had this red carpet leading from the sidewalk up the steps to the door. It was pretty crazy in retrospect. It had one of those ancient basements with a door to the outside halfway down the stairs that, if it wasn't sealed, would have opened up half above ground half below. Our landlord, some British man, told us that a renter years ago once turned on all of the taps in the house and disappeared. Days later a neighbor saw water coming out of a window and the authorities sent a diving team to check the basement. A body was never found and the man never seen again, so the story goes.
Some songs were recorded on tape, some on digital recorder, some with that 10 dollar mic I got in highschool.

Half of these were written on the spot, recorded with a 10 dollar computer mic with a t-shirt over it. Mostly when I was a teenage nightmare and alcoholic. I would record one or two a night, sometimes more, until my computer crashed and wiped out my music for a second time and my digital recorder's files corrupted themselves.
